Glycolic Acid

August 24th, 2010 by Kelly Paul

Skins that are marked by uneven coloration, hyper pigmentation and sun damage will take on a more uniform color and appearance as new cells make their way to the surface.
Therapy systems is providing Skin care products and also giving free advices for skin care tips and skin care routine. Very often the two terms are used interchangeably. Glycolic acid works very simply. Due to its low molecular weight (the size of its molecules is very small), it rapidly penetrates through the outermost layer of the skin where dead and useless cells collects removing those cells and the glue that holds them to the surface of the skin. By doing this, it forces new cells to the surface of the skin that look and act younger thereby improving the overall texture and appearance of the skin.

Therapysystems not only deals in serious skin care and other beauty products but are also providing free consultation and awareness for serious skin care. These tips are freely available on their web site.

Serious skin care needs complete awareness about your skin type and the external effects your skin is facing like sun light or aging. Different types of skins needs different type of medication. Also different effects can be minimized through different solutions.

Even if you are not interested in therapysytems product, it is always good have their web site visited to get valuable information related to skin care products and skin care solutions and tips.

Why is this important? As our bodies age the process of cellular renewal slows down reducing the skin's ability to repair itself. As this happens, the collagen and elastin fiber break down allowing wrinkles and lines to appear. By forcing new cells to the surface of the skin through rapid exfoliation with glycolic acid, the skin looks and acts younger because the lines and wrinkles are 'plumped' up by the new cells.
Overall this process also improves skin function as well. New cells function better, congested pores are relieved and color and youthfulness are returned to a lackluster skin.

resulting in drastic improvements of the skins appearance.

It has all the makings of a first-rate horror movie: a virus outbreak that quickly spreads across the globe, causing widespread panic and fear. Doctors rush to find the cure while everyone around them is getting sick and dying. Our hero is then infected. He fights bravely to discover the answer to curing the disease before he finally succumbs. Throw in a love interest; a brave assistant that finishes the work and saves the world after the doctor dies, and the script is complete. Normally when you have this kind of a film, the virus is something that escapes from a top-secret government laboratory or is sprung on the world by an evil mad scientist, but in this case the culprit is… a chicken.

Actually it's a lot of chickens. Bird flu has fallen off of the front pages recently but scientists say the real chance of a world wide epidemic of it or some other strain of influenza is inevitable. They don't say that it's likely or even highly likely, but rather they are 100% sure that it will happen. And, they say that we are overdue. The last really serious flu pandemic was in 1918-1919 when returning soldiers from Europe brought back the so-called “Spanish Flu.” Worldwide, this pandemic killed almost 20 million people. That's even more than the Black Plague in the Middle Ages. A pandemic today might be even worse and spread even faster since we now have the ability to jet across the world and get anywhere in just a few hours. This means that the virus would be traveling just as fast.

What are we doing to prepare for this disaster-in-waiting? Not nearly enough it seems. According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, (www.stltoday.com), it would take the government and private manufacturers about 6 months to come up with a vaccine once the epidemic started. That's if they could find one that works. Millions could become infected and die by then. The only hope that we would have to slow the spread of the virus is the two anti-viral drugs that are currently on the market: Tamiflu and Relenza. The government has stockpiled some of these drugs but they admit that there is not enough to go around if an epidemic strikes. So how do we decide who gets the drug and who doesn't? Do we do triage and determine who it might help the most? Do we give it to the people who are already sick, children, and the elderly who might not be able to survive as well as a young, healthy person? Of course not. Once again, health care in this country boils down to a matter of one thing: money.

The two pharmaceutical companies that produce the drugs, Hoffman-La Roche and GlaxoSmithKline are preparing to sell insurance to the major corporations in the United States. For $6 per dose they will guarantee a supply for the company's employees at the regular market price, (about $72 currently), if there is an epidemic. So let's see: The very rich will be able to buy the drugs as they can afford anything, government employees will get the government stockpile and those who work for large corporations will get it their own private supply. Who does that leave without? Those who are poor and those who don't have health insurance will go without it, naturally.

Yesterday when I was at the video store, there was a new movie in the horror section. On the cover was a diseased looking vulture with a drooping neck, bloodshot eyes, and scraggly feathers. It was titled “Bird Flu.” But the horror may soon be for real.

Some mistakenly think that healthy skin comes naturally for a baby. In a sense, it does. But, to keep infant skin healthy, skin care techniques should be applied. I am a mother experienced in infant skin care for several children, as well as keeping my own skin healthy. I feel my experience could be useful to many parents interested in baby skin care. Over the years, I have gained knowledge through trial and error, the advice of doctors, and also through research.

Healthy Infant Skin Care: Getting Started

Before starting to care for infant skin, do a product inventory. Read labels of cleansing products, lotions and moisturizers, and laundering products. Check for unnecessary chemicals and fragrance. Products that promote healthy infant skin should include mainly water, moisturizers, disinfectants (for cleansing products), and vitamins and minerals. Beyond that, there shouldn't be many other ingredients. While fragrance is included in many baby care products, it often is not good for promoting healthy skin care. Some babies are sensitive to fragrances, dyes, and other chemicals. Even those who are not should be limited to their exposure.

Healthy Infant Skin Care: Cleansing

The first step to maintaining healthy skin for an infant is properly cleansing the skin. A baby should not necessarily be using the same cleansers as an adult. Some of those can be harsh on a baby's skin, causing it to dry out or get irritated. Dry or irritated skin is not healthy skin. A good baby cleansing product should contain a cleanser or disinfectant, possibly a moisturizer, water, and vitamins or minerals. Other ingredients should be minimal or non-existent. Soft cloths made of 100% cotton are best for applying cleansers to infant skin.

Healthy Infant Skin Care: Moisturizers

Moisturizing is another important step to healthy skin care in infants. Many babies naturally have soft skin, but to maintain that soft, healthy skin, frequent moisturizing is necessary. Any moisturizer is not necessarily better than none. The harsh ingredients in some of them can be detrimental to healthy skin care for a baby. Check the labels to be sure the ingredients consist of a moisturizer, preferably some vitamins and minerals, as well as purified water.

Healthy Infant Skin Care: Bedding and Clothing

Often overlooked are the garments babies wear, as well as their bedding. Anything that comes in contact with a baby's skin should be considered in maintaining healthy skin care habits. To do this simply be cautious of the laundering products used. Avoid products that contain chemicals, fragrances, and dyes. Natural laundry detergent is best for maintaining healthy skin care in an infant.

To avoid wrinkling in the clothing, try hanging the clothing neatly on the clothesline in the sun. The sunshine method also can help to freshen the clothing, taking away the need for a fabric refresher. Another freshening method is to add a small amount of baking soda (maybe a teaspoon) to the dryer while the load of clothing is drying.

Most of us love talking on the phone. Others do not enjoy it, but it is something that we are required to do – whether it is for work purposes or to have a social life. No matter what the case is, there is a good chance that you probably talk on the phone a good amount throughout the week. Is it possible that talking on the phone may cause acne? Although there are many people who spend a good amount of time on the phone, there are few who realize that they may be developing acne because of it. Whether or not you have heard about phones causing acne, the possibility of it happening is a very real one. Here, we will take a closer look at why talking on the phone can cause acne and what you can do in order to prevent it from happening to you.

How Can Talking on the Phone Cause Acne to Develop?

Whether you talk on a cell phone or a telephone located in your home, there is a good chance that you put your hair or face against it. What this ultimately means is that your phone is being exposed to the oils from your face and skin. The next time that you use your phone, even though you may have just washed it, the oils will be put back into your skin. If your face or hair is incredibly oily when you talk on the phone, then it is likely that you will put a lot of oils back into your skin or hair when you talk on the phone next.

How Can You Prevent Oil From Building Up on the Phone?

There are several things that you can do in order to prevent oil from building up on the phone. One of the easiest things that you can do to prevent oil build-up is hold the phone far away from your ear, so that it is not touching your skin or hair. Another one of the easy things that you can do is put a hair tie in your hair, particularly if it is long or oily. Keep in mind that you are probably putting excess oil and chemicals onto your phone if you use a lot of hair products, such as hair sprays or gels.

How Can Acne From Talking on the Phone Be Prevented?

The easiest thing that you can do in order to prevent acne from talking on the phone is clean your cell phone screen. The best way for you to do this is to use a non-wet tissue or a wipe. Never use chemicals when you are cleaning the screen of your phone, as they may have the potential to damage your screen. Cleaning your phone off frequently will ultimately help you prevent acne due to excess build-up of oil.

One of the hardest things a teen has to face is acne. Teens already face a hard road in school and adding to that with acne is no help. Acne is the most common skin disease. Over 18 million people have acne. Here are some things that causes acne to flare up..    – Not eating a well balanced diet. Stay away from certain foods. Iodine is something you may want to stay away from.    – Rubbing or scrubbing your face..    – Your hair being on or around your face.    – Squeezing or picking at your acne.    – Being under a lot of stress.    – Being in the sunlight a lot. The ultra violet rays will irritate and damage your skin.    – Birth Control Pills with higher amounts of estrogen help to clear acne, while pills with higher amounts of testosterone result in flare ups.    – Certain hair conditioners. Try to stay away from isopropyl, myristate or similar ingredients.    – Therapeutic products that contain the ingredients Desquamax 10% benzoyl peroxide or isopropyl myristate which contains Laureth 4.  As you can see there are a few causes for acne flare ups. Acne can not be avoided most of the time. Acne is just something teens go through. Those who don't are very lucky. There are a lot of over-the-counter products. From the research I have done, the top 5 over-the-counter products are:    – Acne Spot Dry    – Murad Acne Complex Kit    – Clearasil Daily Face Wash    – Clearasil Cream Maximum Strength Vanishing    – Rapid Clear Acne Eliminating Gel Teens everywhere have acne. So don't feel alone. There is help for people who have acne.[This acne review was written based on research and personal experience. It should not be taken as a definitive guide. Consult your doctor or health physician for further treatment.]

Women's skin changes as the age. For this reason, women have to take different steps in makeup and skin care at different ages in their lives.

Twenties

Ahe, the wonderful twenties. This is the age where women are beginning are to come into their own. Yet, some are still getting that awful acne from their teenage years. What to do?

They should take the same steps they did as a teen. They need products that will remove the oil.

Some good products to try are ones with Benzoyl Peroxide and salicylic acid in them. Both Neutrogena and L'Oreal have some wonderful products for fighting acne that contains these ingredients.

There are also some wonderful spot treatments that will dry out the infected area and will even help hide the zit. Two good ones to try are Clean & Clean and Clearasil Ultra.

Thirties

This is the age where women need to start preventing future problems. First, stay out of the sun. We all know what the sun can do to our skin. Then drink lots of water. Water will help our skin to stay moisturized.

When women reach their thirties they also need to start paying attention to the area around their eyes. The eyes are the first area of the face that will begin showing age because it is so fragile. Start using eye cream.

Look for eye creams that will diminish darkness, reduce puffiness and smooth your skin. Some good brands to try are Almay, Murad and L'Oreal.

Women in their thirties also want to start looking more sopiscated. A good make up tip to help achieve this look is the smoky eye look. To get this look, try using a flat angle eye brush and some powder eye liner. Tap the brush into the liner and then tap it along your eye, do not drag it. This look takes practice. If you make a mistake, clean the mistake up with a bit of foundation.

Since we know we have to stay out of the sun, try using bronzers to achieve that healthy sun look glow. Match a powdered bronzer not too dark for your skin tone all over your face. Use a matte like powder. If you want to achieve a more shimmer look then add this over the first matte layer, paying extra attention to the areas of your face that the sun would naturally hit. Then try using a liquid bronzer on your body.

Forties.

At this stage of a woman's life, her skin can be dryer and looser (from lack of collagen). She also may need more lift. For this reason, women in their forties should try using some serums. Look for products that say they will lift and firm your skin. Visibly Firm and Retinol Correxion by Roc are great products to use.

Women in their forties should also start using night cream to help with dryness. Dryness can led to wrinkles, so make moisturizing a priority.

Women may also want to consider using a primer under all of their makeup (including foundation). A primer will help smooth out one's skin, fill in lines and wrinkles and will even make pores smaller. Revlon makes some really good primers.

What else should women do to help their skin? The same things that help their health in general, eat right, exercise, avoid stress, and learn to laugh more and to relax.

All About Acne and Blemish Control

Venturing down the beauty product aisle of my local store, my eyes had to adjust to the price for beauty. Healthy, glowing, flawless skin was an expensive market even if paying for the off brand. Knocking at the door of thirty, my skin care regime had to be picked up a notch to stay looking twenty-nine for as long as possible. As I tried to justify paying these high prices for blemish and anti-aging control, I thought of my aunt.

She has skin that every women envies. Not revealing her age, I knew he had to be at least fifteen years my senior. Yet her skin appeared to be untouched by time and any damages. So at my past Thanksgiving dinner, I decided to ask her to reveal her secret.

To my surprise her regime was simple, almost too simple. First she used baby oil to take off her makeup. Next she would rinse her face with hot water, followed by cold to close her pores. As for a moisturizer, it had to have SPF in it. Even some of the other ladies agreed with her, and stated that once in awhile they would use isopropyl alcohol to give their face a good strip.

My mouth dropped when I heard these things. No microderm abrasion, no face peels, no expensive treatments that required paying an arm for. Baby oil, water, and moisturizer with a little alcohol on the side is all that is needed for great looking skin. But that was not the only secret revealed.

My great grandmother through her ages kept skin that was air-brushed beautiful, without the paint. It seemed she used Crisco as a moisturizer. Of course debate filled the room, however if anyone looked at the ingredients on any moisturizer, grease is an addition.

Other things mentioned about achieving an inexpensive facial regime are things commonly overlooked. Neosporin is great at healing blemishes quickly and preventing scars. Of course drinking water every day helps moisturize from the inside out and helps prevent blemishes. And I guess I should mention my aunt doesn't smoke.

With so many people looking for ways to cut down costs, these tips revealed is a wonderful way for women to keep perfect skin with paying a fraction of the cost. Who know that water alone inside and out has its own benefits to healthy, flawless skin. As for the Crisco, I think I will take their word at it.

Acne Treatments Care

May 6th, 2010 by Kelly Paul

When we are a small child, our skin renews itself very quickly. Small children rarely have break outs or acne. Coming into our teenage years, our skin turnover slows down a bit and hormones, and a lack of a skin care regime can lead to clogged pores and acne.

Acne can be incredible stressful to the teen who is all ready feeling awkward with all the changes that are taking place with their bodies. Hormones increase and acne can come along with it.

Teens rarely have a regular skin care routine. This is the perfect time to introduce them to good regime and help them beat acne before it begins. As a child, because our skin turned over at a faster rate, the dead skin cells were renewed almost weekly. Teenager’s skin turns over at the rate of every two to three weeks, while adult’s skin turns over at a very slow rate of every 25 to 45 days. Because your teenager’s skin is not turning over as quickly as when they were younger, there is the ability for the dead skin cells to clog their pores.

With hormone production increasing, and sebum or oils increasing it is extremely important that the pores remain free of dirt, debris and the excess sebum production. By washing your face regularly both in the morning and evening with a good cleanser, you are helping to clear away those very things that can clog pores. When dirt and excess sebum become trapped under the dead skin cells, this forms acne. Acne is bacteria trapped beneath the skin. A blackhead and a whitehead are very similar. A whitehead or closed comedone is still under the skin, while a blackhead or open comedone is open to the air, and becomes dark because air has hit it, and it has oxidized.

Exfoliating the skin is another way to help your teenager keep their pores from clogging. When we exfoliate the skin, we’re helping to remove the buildup of dead skin cells. This in turns keeps the pores from clogging. Use a mild exfoliant and never be aggressive.

By following these simple steps you can lessen the impact of acne on your teenager’s life. Wash regularly both in the morning and evening, and exfoliate the skin once a week. If your child has a lot of buildup and clogging, you may gently exfoliate the skin twice a week. It is important to use a gentle exfoliant as over exfoliating the skin can cause the skin to be sensitized.
